Learn to Use Tableau!

Thu, March 19, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Interested in learning more about using Tableau, UW–Madison’s data visualization software? Join us for Learn to Use Tableau, a hands-on training session that will help you get comfortable using Tableau for data visualizations and Institutional Data Exporters (IDEs).

In this interactive workshop, you’ll learn how to:

  • Apply filters and navigate dashboards
  • Save custom views and download data
  • Build transferable skills for any Tableau workbook—including those in the OACS Data Catalog

No prior experience with these tools is necessary. We’ll work with simplified, practice datasets—not operational data tied to specific roles—so you can focus on building transferable skills in a low-pressure environment. Please bring a laptop to this training. Registered participants must take the 30-minute virtual Data@UW training prior to attending this in-person training workshop.

Note: If you are unable to attend on this date, Learn to Use Tableau will be held once per semester.
