Are you new to an advising, career services, or learning support role at UW–Madison? Mentorship and finding experienced staff to connect with can be a great aid in your transition to your new role.
Below you’ll find resources for connecting with people to learn from, consider your career with, and ask questions to.
Academic Staff Mentor Match Program
Consider joining the Mentor Match Program to find an informal 9-month mentor from across campus who can support you as your transition to your new role.
Peer Partner
You might ask your unit to connect you with a peer partner - another great way to gain mentorship. See the following resource below and consider asking your supervisor about finding you a peer partner.
Shadow and Share Program
Consider asking a colleague (from in or outside of your unit) to do a Shadow & Share partnership with you. Shadowing others, and being shadowed, can expand your advising skills and give you a space to process your practice.
Coaching Circles
Coaching circles are a tool for finding connection and support from colleagues who can help provide support through workplace challenges.
Professional Associations
Professional associations in your field are also a great place to be connected to mentoring opportunities.
